Robert Edward Maher Memorial Trophy

Robert Edward Maher Memorial Trophy

Robert Maher proudly served his country as a Lieutenant in the US Navy. He was a graduate of Tulane University and received his MBA from the University of New Orleans.

Bob was an honorary lifetime member of the Southern Yacht Club for 26 years and a respected avid sailor. He was a dedicated Leukemia Cup Regatta supporter who was the epitome of teamwork, whether on the water or in fundraising. When he wasn’t sailing, you would find him behind a camera lens, capturing special moments of those around him.

Bob was a quiet, kind and generous man who was married to his sweetheart Sylvia for 63 years and is survived by his daughters, Karen and Colleen, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was truly a man loved by all.

While Bob lost his very long battle against multiple myeloma on September 11, 2018, his spirit will be remembered as we honor his commitment to teamwork and philanthropy. The Robert Edward Maher Memorial Trophy was created in 2018 to be presented to the top national fundraising team. The 2018 recipients of the Maher Trophy were Donald and Margaret Steiner of the Rhode Island Chapter.
