Meet Our Honored Hero, Joshua Czorapinski

Joshua Czorapinski was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on April 17, 2006. He was just 3 days shy of 10 months old. Due to his infant diagnosis, he was considered high risk and poor prognosis and spent the first 28 days of treatment in the hospital. Joshua was not able to be at home with his identical twin, Adam, and older brother, Noah, during most of his treatment. This was extremely hard on his entire family. He underwent numerous spinal taps, bone marrow tests and many rounds of chemotherapy during that time. Joshua endured a very harsh 2 year treatment protocol and finished in treatment in March 2008. Only two months after completing treatment, Joshua had an isolated testicular relapse. He was then forced to start another two years of chemotherapy and had to undergo testicular radiation. He fully finished treatment in August 2010.

Today Joshua is a happy and healthy 12 year old. He loves to play soccer where he serves as his team’s goalkeeper. He also plays the baritone in his middle school band. Due to the effects of chemotherapy, he must have his heart and blood checked at least once every year. This past August Joshua reached his 7 years in remission mark. He loves to tell people that he “beat cancer twice!” Joshua is an inspiration to his friends and family.
