Fantasy Sail

Fantasy Sail

Picture yourself and your crew sailing on Lake Ponchartrain, sun glinting off the water and a breeze catching your sails.

This could be you if you raise at least $15,000* or more at a 2018 Leukemia Cup Regatta by November 1, 2018. Participants who meet this fundraising criteria will receive an invitation to join us at the 2018 Fantasy Sail, which will take place November 30 - December 2, 2018 in New Orleans and feature an exciting weekend of fun activities, as well as get an update on the progress The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is making in accelerating cancer cures and improving the quality of life for patients and their families. We'll honor the top national fundraising event with the Jobson Cup, and recognize the top fundraising individuals and teams.   Fantasy Sail weekend is scheduled to include presentations by celebrity sailors such as:

  • Steve Callahan, who will share his experiences in a conversation with Leukemia Cup Regatta National Chairman Emeritus Gary Jobson about being stranded at sea for 76 days and his battle later in life against AML
  • Suzy Leech, member of the 1995 America’s Cup team and a winner of over 30 international Regattas
  • Olympic sailors Annie Haeger and Luke Ramsay, who will talk about being married and competing for different countries
  • Benz Faget from North Sails, who will share his tips for sailing success

We’ll have sailing out of the Southern Yacht Club on Lake Pontchartrain, and an awards dinner at Southern YC co-hosted by Kyle Smith (a three-time America’s Cup participant with Dennis Conner) and 2008 Olympic sailor John Dane III (who competed at the ripe young age of 58); along with an opening reception at Acme Oyster House….and more!   At the reception, you’ll have a chance to bid on having one of our Celebrity Ambassadors join your crew for the Fantasy Sail Challenge race!

During Fantasy Sail weekend, we'll also select the winners of:

  • A $1,000 West Marine shopping spree and a Moorings yacht charter. Each Leukemia Cup participant throughout North America who has raised at least $500 in donations is automatically eligible for selection.

  • A trip for two to Bermuda, provided by Gosling's Rum. Travel, accommodations and a tasting experience at the Bermuda headquarters of Gosling's. Each Leukemia Cup participant who has raised at least $2,500 in donations is automatically eligible for selection.

The winners of the drawings do not have to be present at the Fantasy Sail.
